Social Responsibility

The purpose of public education in B.C. is to enable all learners to become literate, to develop their individual potential and to acquire the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to contribute to a healthy society.

That includes learning about, and practicing, social responsibility.

Socially responsible students are “community minded,” which means, for example, that they treat others with respect, solve problems peacefully and play a positive role in the school community.

Schools have many ways of teaching and encouraging socially responsible behaviours and are guided by a set of provincial standards. To learn more about social responsibility in your school, contact the school directly.
