The Teacher's Role in Distributed Learning

Distributed learning means that a teacher, at a distance, is leading the child’s educational program. Parents have a role in facilitating their child’s learning.  BC Distributed Learning Standards describe the role of a teacher in a distributed learning environment.

When a teacher is at a distance, students, parents and teachers communicate in many ways.  Communication may occur using technology like email.  If you don’t have access to the Internet, many distributed learning schools have other options like telephone and face-to-face visits.

Did You Know…
Every DL school is required to have a school planning council, and where parents request it, a Parent Advisory Council.  Their meetings can be held online.  If you’re a parent interested in getting involved, you should contact your distributed learning school.
